Marine Emissions
Emissions from seagoing ships include air pollutants, greenhouse gases and ozone-depleting substances entailing risks for human health and the environment.
Worldwide, NOx emissions from shipping (international and domestic) have been estimated at about 25 million tons in 2007, equivalent to about 30 per cent of total global anthropogenic emissions (MEPC, 2009).
Sulphur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions from ships are responsible for acid deposition, which can be harmful to the environment, as well as particulate matter harmful to health. NOx and volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions contribute to the formation of ground-level ozone harmful to health and to the environment. NOx emissions contribute to environmentally damaging eutrophication. Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions contribute to climate change. Halon emissions damage the ozone layer.
Improved environmental performance and reduced operational cost is at the top of every shipping company's priorities. Climate change and rapid rises in the cost of fuel have increased the focus on energy consumption and efficiency, throughout the maritime industry.
The solution that we offer with 350-Maritime gives you the opportunity to link combustion optimization, increasing fuel savings & profitability, with conformity to MARPOL 73/78 Annex VI.
Model 350-Maritime is a Portable Emission Analyzer with Germanischer Lloyd (GL) & DNV Type Approval for compliance with MARPOL 73/78 Annex VI, NOx Technical Code and MEPC.103(49), which gives you quickly and efficiently highest accuracy reliable emission measurements that ensure the precise values of O2, CO, NOx, SOx, CO2, flue gas temperature, ambient temperature, pressure, calculated fuel moisture content, and combustion efficiency, allowing optimum adjustment, data storage/export/printing and thus eliminating guesswork.

Fast and easy measurements for compliance with MARPOL Annex VI and NOx Technical Code
Model 350-Maritime is the only portable MARPOL emissions analyzer with Type Approval
The 350-Maritime is a portable emissions analyser fitted with: O2, CO, CO2-(IR), NO and NO2, (SO2 optional) gas preparation, integrated rechargeable battery pack and measuring data memory.
The flue gas sampling is operated via a specially designed gas sampling probe, which can easily be mounted with the help of a flange. The type approved and hard-wearing electro-chemical gas sensors (ECS) record the concentrations of the flue gas components O2, CO and NOx (NO + NO2 separately) highly accurate and longterm stable. CO2 is recorded via a type approved IR-measuring principle. To cope with the rough requirements at sea the entire emission analyzer including accessories is stored in a robust protection case.
The complete kit: - Emission Analyzer 350-MARITIME fitted with: O2, CO, CO2-(IR), NO and NO2 (SO2 optional), gas preparation, integrated rechargeable battery pack and measuring data memory
Control-Unit 350-MARITIME
- Connection cable (2 m) between analyzer and Control Unit
- Flue gas sampling probe with probe shaft prefilter
- Mounting flange for gas sampling probe
- Robust protection case with trolley function
- Cable with battery clamps and adapter for connection to 350-MARITIME
- Germanischer Lloyd (GL)-certificate nr. 59 488 - 08 HH
The applications for 350-MARITIME at a glance
On Board verification survey subject to NOx Technical code
The 350-MARITIME can be utilized to measure gaseous emission components such as O2, CO, CO2, NOx and SO2 (optional) as one system component for the following operations:
Periodical surveys and intermediate surveys
- onboard Direct Measurement and Monitoring method
- onboard simplified measurement method ie when any modification or adjustment has been done on an engine
Inspection of NOx limit values stipulated in MARPOL Annex VI
- for NOx control measurements onboard
NOx measurement as verification in regions with local or national legislation
ie proof of NOx reduction measures subject to the NOx Tax in Norway
Inspection of SO2 limit values to meet the Sulphur Emission Control Areas (SECA) requirements.
- for SO2 control measurements onboard
